Often growing an audience for a podcast is a bit more holistic with strategies involving email, paid promotion, collaboration, and social. If you’d really like an in to do it all, here are some of the key skills needed:

  2. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analytics tools to track and measure the success of marketing efforts will help lead strategies. 

  3. Communication and Collaboration: You’ll work closely with hosts, producers, and the greater team. Strong communication skills are going to help you both internally and externally when leading collaboration. 

  4. Project Management: It’s rare that you’ll have only one project on the go at one time, The ability to manage multiple campaigns and tasks simultaneously, often under tight deadlines, is important for ensuring that marketing initiatives are completed on time and within budget.

  5. Networking and Relationship Building: Promotion is a collaborative effort. You’ll want to work on networking, and creating relations with media outlets, sponsor brands, and other podcasters. Strong networking skills can open up opportunities for cross-promotion and partnerships.

While not always required, it can be beneficial to also have content creation and creativity skills. Not every podcast project will require this, but it helps to know just in case your client asks. In some cases the team may be small and beyond only strategizing you may be required to create social media content, blogs, newsletters, and more promotional content.

Upwork & Fiverr: These are for freelancers and gig work, but often have a few opportunities in podcast marketing. It’s a great starter spot, but know that the rates and job stability through these opportunities might not be the best. 

The Classic Job Posting Sites: LinkedIn, Indeed, Remote.co, or WeWorkRemotely, are all great spots to have a look for a podcasting career. You can find opportunities remotely or locally, just use the filters and search wisely.
